Srinagar, May 29 (KNO): Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmed Khan on Wednesday met the trade and other communities in Srinagar, seeking their cooperation in containing the COVID-19 in the Valley.
Reliable sources informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Advisor to LG met traders, Industrialists and others. In the meeting Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Muhammad Aijaz Asad and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner Athar Amir Khan were also present.
In the meeting, the Advisor sought cooperation of the trade community in containing the virus.
During the meeting, Joint Coordination Committee City Centre (JCCCC), an amalgam of traders extended support to the government, but put forth some demands to mitigate the sufferings of the trade community.
“The trade community of Kashmir is even badly affected due to lockdown and other restrictions. In these testing times, we the Joint Coordination Committee City Centre (JCCCC), Srinagar, request your good self to convince the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to come to the rescue of the business community,” the amalgam has said.
In their demands, the amalgam has said that a six-month moratorium on bank interest and EMI without interest is the first step to be taken while financial support for the lockdown affected traders community should also be done at earliest.
The demands include special extension of the statutory dates of GST and Income Tax, exemption of interest and penalty for not filing the return by the statutory date and waiver on power fee.
Besides, they have also demanded waiver on sanitation fee and utilization of the lockdown to complete construction of parking lot at State Bank and Press Enclave and creation of interim parking lots in the City centre.
